Speechwriter VBOs work behind the scenes writing talking points and speeches for others to deliver. They often write for politicians, public figures, and business executives, working directly with the individual or their team to plan and create the topic and key points. They then turn this plan into a draft of the speech and submit it to their clients for review, making revisions as necessary. Speechwriters may spend a lot of time with their clients to pick up information so that they can adapt the speech’s tone and vernacular to match that of the client. As a successful Speechwriter VBO, you should be able to write a compelling speech while keeping in line with the speaker's tone, philosophy, and audience.

PAY

Our research shows the hourly rate charged by Speechwriter VBOs ranges from $30.00 to $90.00. However, the majority seemed to land in the $40.00 to $70.00 per hour range. Factors affecting this variance include geographic location, experience, and level of expertise.

Skillshare

Skillshare is an online learning community with classes that are often helpful for VBOs focused on design, business, tech, and more.


Coursera

Coursera offers courses from many of the top universities including Stanford, Duke, and Penn. As a result, their courses are probably a bit more like what you would imagine getting in higher education.
